Wild, Absolutely Wild In Conroy Pond

Referee Tiffiny Quinn, medical officer Martina Ring, IISA official Noel Grimes, and event director Ian Conroy oversaw 6 races (1000m freestyle + 200m freestyle + 100m freestyle + 50m breaststroke + 50m butterfly + 4x50m mixed freestyle relay) at the IISA Ireland 1k National Championships that were held in Wild Water Armagh, Northern Ireland.

18-year-old Ciara Doran, an Irish wunderkind in pool swimming, marathon swimming and ice competitions completed the Ice Kilometer faster than anyone - male or female - by over 1 minute to win the overall title in the 1000m freestyle in the 4.90°C water.

An Almanac for Open Water Swimming

An almanac is essentially a body of knowledge which is so complete that it enables people in different fields to make predictions about the future of their respective industries.

This, for example, was the purpose of the traditional farmers almanacs. It enabled farmers to determine as accurately as possible which crops to plant for the greatest harvests in a given year.

But the farmers almanac was just one example among many.
