Pat Gallant-Charette completed a crossing of Loch Ness in Scotland in 13 hours 45 minutes 45 seconds.

At the age of 67 years and 198 days, she is the oldest person to complete a crossing ... another record that the former nurse has set over her prolific career.

On Wednesday in two days time, Gallant-Charette will attempt to cross Windermere, potentially her fourth Still Water Eight crossing (Loch Ness in Scotland + 2. She has swam 51 km across Lake Ontario in 24 hours 28 minutes along the Marilyn Bell Route from Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ontario to Marilyn Bell Park, Toronto in August 2017 at the age of 66 years and 209 days. A year later, she swam 34.2 km across Lake Tahoe in 20 hours 32 seconds at the age of 67 years and 186 days. Another year later, she swam 37 km across Loch Ness in Scotland in 13 hours 45 minutes at the age of 67 years and 198 days.

She says, "Honestly, these lake swims are as challenging as any ocean swims. Loch Ness was a monster of a swim."

2014 Open Water Swimming Almanac

An Almanac for Open Water Swimming

An almanac is essentially a body of knowledge which is so complete that it enables people in different fields to make predictions about the future of their respective industries.

This, for example, was the purpose of the traditional farmers almanacs. It enabled farmers to determine as accurately as possible which crops to plant for the greatest harvests in a given year.

But the farmers almanac was just one example among many.
There are, of course, many different kinds of almanacs.

In fact, there is even one for open water swimming...
