Arena 9 Is The Favored Wetsuit On The FINA Circuit

Courtesy of FINA, Setúbal Bay, Portugal.

Arena 9 wetsuits were the favored neoprene choice among the professional swimmers competing at the FINA/HOSA Marathon Swim World Series race which Kristof Rasovszky of Hungary and Haley Anderson of the United States won in Setúbal Bay, Portugal.

The Arena 9 wetsuits are 85% neoprene and 15% nylon with Yamamoto Aerodome patented neoprene panels integrated with carbon cage fabric that Arena touts for its advanced buoyancy that helps stabilize the swimmer's core stability and optimal swim position. The shoulder area has a thinner, more elastic neoprene with a rear zipper.

Yamamoto Corporation in Japan advertises Aerodome fabric helps improved heat retention, buoyancy and a decrease in friction due to hydrophilic and hydrophobic properties. Yamamoto's wetsuits reduces water resistance through many air holes evenly placed on the material. The holes in the wetsuit help add buoyancy by keeping air bubbles within the air holes in addition to improving heat-retention due to the heat insulating effect of the air bubbles.

2014 Open Water Swimming Almanac

An Almanac for Open Water Swimming

An almanac is essentially a body of knowledge which is so complete that it enables people in different fields to make predictions about the future of their respective industries.

This, for example, was the purpose of the traditional farmers almanacs. It enabled farmers to determine as accurately as possible which crops to plant for the greatest harvests in a given year.

But the farmers almanac was just one example among many.
There are, of course, many different kinds of almanacs.

In fact, there is even one for open water swimming...
