Zone 3 Win Queens Award

Courtesy of Outdoor Swimmer, Gloucestershire, United Kingdom.

The United Kingdom has enjoyed a massive growth in marathon swimming, ice swimming, stage swimming, relays, winter swimming, channel swimming, swimming expeditions, swimming holidays, wild swimming, sea trekking, circumnavigation swims, biathlons, and adventure swimming.

And with many world-leading British triathletes from Alistair Brownlee and Jonathan Brownlee to Vicky Holland and Helen Jenkins, multi-sport endurance athletes and the sport of triathlon continues to expand.

While many British open water swimming still swim in cold, cold waters year-round, Zone3 has clearly made it mark in the open water swimming and multi-sport worlds. "We are delighted to announce that we have won the prestigious Queen’s Award for Enterprise 2018, recognizing the company’s outstanding growth and international expansion.

The esteemed and highly sought-after award for International Trade was earned by our efforts to build a global brand and replicate its success achieved in the UK. This has been achieved from a deep-rooted passion for endurance sports. Our company policy also ensures the highest performance products are delivered to our customers.

The award, which was recommended by the Prime Minister, will be formally presented at our head office following a Royal reception at Buckingham Palace this summer

Back in 2006, James Lock had to earn enough money to cover his competitive training race fees and training costs. He started developing the business and has grown without any investment or business partners. Zone3 has expanded to over 20 employees and a distribution network to over 25 countries and is the brand of choice for many athletes of all levels.

Lock said, “I am incredibly proud that Zone3 has been awarded a Queen’s Award for Enterprise for International Trade. As the UK’s most prestigious business award, this accolade is testament to our company mission to be the most loved and chosen specialist sports brand in the world. My own background as a former athlete and my innate passion for triathlon and competitive nature has been a driving force behind the Zone3 brand. It has helped me to build the business up from a grassroots level to a global market player. We are all delighted that our international growth has been recognized and this has been achieved thanks to an exceptionally talented, positive and hardworking team of staff.”

2014 Open Water Swimming Almanac

An Almanac for Open Water Swimming

An almanac is essentially a body of knowledge which is so complete that it enables people in different fields to make predictions about the future of their respective industries.

This, for example, was the purpose of the traditional farmers almanacs. It enabled farmers to determine as accurately as possible which crops to plant for the greatest harvests in a given year.

But the farmers almanac was just one example among many.
There are, of course, many different kinds of almanacs.

In fact, there is even one for open water swimming...
