2018 U.S. Masters Swimming Open Water National Champs

The 2018 United States Masters Swimming open water swimming championship series begins on the east coast in Virginia and ends on the West Coast in Oregon:

U.S. Masters Swimming Middle-Distance Open Water National Championship
2 miles on May 27th organized by the Reston Masters Swim Team in Lake Audubon in Reston, Virginia

U.S. Masters Swimming Sprint-Distance Open Water National Championship
1 mile on June 9th organized by the Saluki Masters Swim Club in Little Grassy Lake, Makanda, Illinois [limited to 153 swimmers]

5 km on July 7th in Fire Island, New York at the Fire Island Ocean Swims

U.S. Masters Swimming Ultramarathon-Distance Open Water National Championship
10.7 miles on July 8th in Willamette River, Portland, Oregon

U.S. Masters Swimming 2-Mile Cable Open Water National Championship
2 miles on July 12th organized by the Central Oregon Masters Association on a quarter-mile straightaway course in Foster Lake in Willamette Valley, Oregon

An Almanac for Open Water Swimming

An almanac is essentially a body of knowledge which is so complete that it enables people in different fields to make predictions about the future of their respective industries.

This, for example, was the purpose of the traditional farmers almanacs. It enabled farmers to determine as accurately as possible which crops to plant for the greatest harvests in a given year.

But the farmers almanac was just one example among many.
There are, of course, many different kinds of almanacs.

In fact, there is even one for open water swimming...
