When H2Open Magazine Launched

Courtesy of WOWSA, Huntington Beach, California.

Seven years ago, Simon Griffiths made his splash into the open water swimming community. As the publisher and editor of the new H2Open Magazine, he issued a press release about the world's first magazine devoted to open water swimming.

He stated back on January 21st 2011, "H2Open Magazine is a publication for anyone who loves open water swimming whether you are a beginner or an experienced veteran, taking on a long-distance challenge, doing your first mass participation race or simply looking for a beautiful place to take a dip.

Our writers include Kate Rew, founder of the Outdoor Swimming Society, Simon Murie, founder of Swim Trek, Dan Bullock, founder and head coach at Swim for Tri, Paul Newsome, founder of Swim Smooth, and Rick Kiddle, ex-international triathlete and coach to model Jodie Kidd. We also have a panel of experts to answer swimming-related questions including Steven Munatones of the Daily News of Open Water Swimming, and Colin Hill, organizer of the British Gas Great Swim Series.

As well as regular features on training, nutrition, iconic swim locations, classic swims and the latest training and racing gear we will print race listings, news from the world of open water swimming and interviews with open water swimming heroes starting with Olympic 10K Marathon Swim silver medalist Keri-Anne Payne

The launch date of the first English-language magazine devoted to open water swimming is February 11th. H2Open Magazine is a bi-monthly publication with one summer special (7 issues total per year) with a cover price for a single issue of £3.50. Annual subscriptions cost £20 in the UK and £26 outside the UK. Subscriptions can be ordered here.

H2Open Magazine is now Outdoor Swimmer.

Her past and present collide in her obsession with a feat that nobody has ever accomplished. At the edge of The Devil’s Triangle, tropical storms, sharks, venomous jellyfish, and one of the strongest ocean currents in the world, all prove to be life-threatening realities. Timothy Wheeler’s documentary brings Diana Nyad’s extraordinary adventure to life as Diana sets out to prove that will and determination are all you need to make the unimaginable possible.

2014 Open Water Swimming Almanac

An Almanac for Open Water Swimming

An almanac is essentially a body of knowledge which is so complete that it enables people in different fields to make predictions about the future of their respective industries.

This, for example, was the purpose of the traditional farmers almanacs. It enabled farmers to determine as accurately as possible which crops to plant for the greatest harvests in a given year.

But the farmers almanac was just one example among many.
There are, of course, many different kinds of almanacs.

In fact, there is even one for open water swimming...

The trends are very clear.
The tide is rising for open water swimming.
