Catherine Vogt Joins FINA Coaches Committee

The FINA Coaches Committee is responsible for coordinating with the Development Committee, participating in the Coaches Certification program for pool/open water swimming, diving, water polo, and synchronized swimming, bringing the coaches' experience to each FINA-sanctioned event, presenting recommendations from coaches, and advising on proposals to the FINA Technical Rules.

American open water swimming coach Catherine Vogt (on right with Olympic silver medalist Haley Anderson) joins her coaching colleagues from the pool swimming, water polo, diving and synchronized swimming communities. She will represent the open water swimming community among some of the world's most successful and experienced coaches from around the world.

Over the course of her career, Vogt has coached world champions Haley Anderson, Ous Mellouli, and Chip Peterson and currently coaches a number of American national team swimmers at the University of Southern California including Becca Mann.

An Almanac for Open Water Swimming

An almanac is essentially a body of knowledge which is so complete that it enables people in different fields to make predictions about the future of their respective industries.

This, for example, was the purpose of the traditional farmers almanacs. It enabled farmers to determine as accurately as possible which crops to plant for the greatest harvests in a given year.

But the farmers almanac was just one example among many.
There are, of course, many different kinds of almanacs.
