The Wexford Masters Open Sea Swimming Club is on its way to a Relay Oceans Seven.

The Irish team of James O'Connor, Enda Sinnott, Peter 'The Bullet' Bolger, Saskia Dodebier, Sandra Goldsmith and Denise Underwood has completed a relay crossing of the English Channel in 12 hours 31 minutes in 2014, a crossing of the North Channel in 13 hours 9 minutes in 2015, a crossing of the Catalina Channel in 11 hours 56 minutes in 2016 as well as a 6 hour 7 minute Trans Tahoe Relay in northern California a few days after their Catalina crossing.

The sextet plans to cross the Strait of Gibraltar between Spain and Morocco in 2017, the Tsugaru Channel in Japan and the Cook Strait in New Zealand in 2018, and culminate their Relay Oceans Seven with a crossing of the Molokai Channel in Hawaii in 2019.

With plans to complete the arduous challenge in 2019, they will become the first team in history to achieve the Oceans Seven feat outside of Americans Richard Gaenzle, Jr., Brian Ross, and Chris Kraus.

At the edge of The Devil’s Triangle, tropical storms, sharks, venomous jellyfish, and one of the strongest ocean currents in the world, all prove to be life-threatening realities. 2014 Open Water Swimming Almanac

An Almanac for Open Water Swimming

An almanac is essentially a body of knowledge which is so complete that it enables people in different fields to make predictions about the future of their respective industries.

This, for example, was the purpose of the traditional farmers almanacs. It enabled farmers to determine as accurately as possible which crops to plant for the greatest harvests in a given year.

But the farmers almanac was just one example among many.
There are, of course, many different kinds of almanacs.

In fact, there is even one for open water swimming...
