Sarah Condor-Fisher, From The Pool To Olympia

Courtesy of WOWSA, Huntington Beach, California.

Pool and open water swimmer Sarah P. Condor-Fisher, Ph.D., Esq., LL.M. is getting ready to compete in the pro Olympia contest on November 12th-14th in Las Vegas.

"I will compete in the amateur bodybuilding category and in the Professional Physique category. They are extremely difficult and competitive," explains Condor-Fisher who was Miss USA Physique at the 2015 Miss Natural Universe contest.

When the 43-year-old is not doing masters swimming or preparing herself for body building events, she represents athletes at World Anti-Doping Association hearings and continues to write poetry and non-fiction (including Swimming Workouts: for Master Swimmers and a novel called Escape).

But her most recent commentary really grabbed the attention of the online readers of Politichicks. She wrote, "I remember my father cutting thin slices of a banana on a small breadboard, arranging them on a plate with tiny squares of a Cuban orange.

It was Christmas Eve and I was allowed to eat half the plate myself. My parents had each one quarter, about four slices of banana and a quarter of an orange.

That is how I grew up...I was a sickly child, mainly because my parents were 'intellectuals' with few contacts to the working class people who lived in the country and had their own chickens and even a cow and a pig. They ate rabbits and once we were invited by one of my mother’s patients to...have sausage for the first time in my life. And the boiled and fried pieces of fat tasted so good

2014 Open Water Swimming Almanac

An Almanac for Open Water Swimming

An almanac is essentially a body of knowledge which is so complete that it enables people in different fields to make predictions about the future of their respective industries.

This, for example, was the purpose of the traditional farmers almanacs. It enabled farmers to determine as accurately as possible which crops to plant for the greatest harvests in a given year.

But the farmers almanac was just one example among many.
There are, of course, many different kinds of almanacs.

In fact, there is even one for open water swimming...
