Poliana Okimoto, a pre-race favorite for the Olympic 10K Marathon Swim at the 2016 Rio Olympic Games, is facing a bit of a bump in the road to Rio. While her trajectory to the top of the sport has been constant and solid, the world 10 km marathon swimming champion experienced a spinal injury.
Okimoto faces up to 6 weeks of rehabilitation for her spinal disc crack. A TV Globo report on Okimoto's injury is here.
