Aquapreneur Takes Time To Swim Around The World

Courtesy of WOWSA, Huntington Beach, California.

Jose Luis Larrosa Chorro is a whirlwind of activity in the open water swimming world.

Not only does he own an athletic goods shop called Disseny Sport that caters to pool and open water swimmers, water polo players, triathletes, synchronized swimmers, ballerinas, ice skaters, and gymnasts, but he has also seen constant growth for 5 years in his online businesses as his retail business has taken off over the past 2 years. But he wears and uses the very products that he designs and sells as he has continued to participate in a vast number of swims in his native Spain and around Europe.

Fellow marathon competitor Lexie Kelly says, "He is all about swimming. He has always worked related to aquatics.

He's been a beach lifeguard, a swim instructor, a pool guard, a swim shop owner, all while doing all kinds of marathon swims. He has done all 3 of the 22 km International Marathon Swim Tabarca-Alicante events and even did one 22 km crossing by himself. He also has done all of the local races in Spain almost every year including crossing the Strait of Gibraltar, the 16 km Faros Maratón with a 31 km as his longest swim. He will do 25 km marathon swim in France next weekend at the French nationals (Championnats de France Eau Libre), then go to Serbia for the 19 km FINA Open Water Swimming Grand Prix, the 16 km Faros Maratón, and then head north to Poland for the 20.5 km BCT Gdynia Marathon race. Just this summer as an athlete as he also continues to do well with his online and retail sales

An aquapreneur whose passion continues 24/7/365, Jose creates and markets Disseny Sport, a brand headquartered out of Barcelona, Spain. "His own branded swimsuits have fun, bright colors with totally unique patterns in addition to the products he carries in his shop from Arena, Head, Speedo, Cressi, and FINIS," said customer Kelly.

The Other Shore

The Other Shore follows world record holder and legendary swimmer Diana Nyad as she comes out of a thirty-year retirement to re-attempt an elusive dream: swimming 103 miles non-stop from Cuba to Florida without the use of a shark cage. Her past and present collide in her obsession with a feat that nobody has ever accomplished. At the edge of The Devil’s Triangle, tropical storms, sharks, venomous jellyfish, and one of the strongest ocean currents in the world, all prove to be life-threatening realities. Timothy Wheeler’s documentary brings Diana Nyad’s extraordinary adventure to life as Diana sets out to prove that will and determination are all you need to make the unimaginable possible.

2014 Open Water Swimming Almanac

An Almanac for Open Water Swimming

An almanac is essentially a body of knowledge which is so complete that it enables people in different fields to make predictions about the future of their respective industries.

This, for example, was the purpose of the traditional farmers almanacs. It enabled farmers to determine as accurately as possible which crops to plant for the greatest harvests in a given year.

But the farmers almanac was just one example among many.
There are, of course, many different kinds of almanacs.

In fact, there is even one for open water swimming...

The trends are very clear.
The tide is rising for open water swimming.
