Barbara Pellick, 20 Years In The Making Of A Heroine

From the shores of Western Australia, Barbara Pellick rises like a mermaid, swims like a dolphin, and smiles like a star wherever her marathon swims take her.

This August 11th, she completed the Triple Crown of Open Water Swimming with an 11 hour 19 minute crossing of the Catalina Channel.

A veteran of over 20 years of marathon swimming, she has also completed a 12:23 English Channel swim, a three-way English Channel relay, a 4th-place finish in the 2000 Manhattan Island Marathon Swim in 8 hours 15 minutes, and participated in the unprecedented 120 km Lake Taupo three-way relay. She has also completed 23 (and counting) solo Rottnest Channel Swims, the first non-stop double crossing of the Rottnest Channel, and numerous other ocean swims under her swim cap.

2014 Open Water Swimming Almanac

An Almanac for Open Water Swimming

An almanac is essentially a body of knowledge which is so complete that it enables people in different fields to make predictions about the future of their respective industries.

This, for example, was the purpose of the traditional farmers almanacs. It enabled farmers to determine as accurately as possible which crops to plant for the greatest harvests in a given year.

But the farmers almanac was just one example among many.
There are, of course, many different kinds of almanacs.

In fact, there is even one for open water swimming...
