Reeves Wills Himself To Victory In Great Salt Lake
66-year-old Will Reeves swam confidently and buoyantly in the 8-miler when he set a record in 3 hours 10 minute. "We had another great event at the Great Salt Lake this year," said Green. "12 swimmers started the 8-mile swim from Antelope Island to Black Rock Beach and 11 finished."
For more information on the race that first began in 1926, visit here.
Gridley and Green's next swim is the Bear Lake Monster Swim, a 7-mile point-to-point open water swimming race across the width of Bear Lake - home of the Bear Lake Monster. The open water swim is open to solo swimmers and 2 to 6-person relay teams. All solo swimmers must provide their own support paddler. Relay teams are responsible for providing their own support craft, large enough to hold all team members. Swimmers will be shuttled with their paddlers from the Bear Lake Marina to Cisco Beach. The swim will start in the water at Cisco Beach and will finish just north of the Bear Lake Marina on the opposite side of the lake.

Her past and present collide in her obsession with a feat that nobody has ever accomplished. At the edge of The Devil’s Triangle, tropical storms, sharks, venomous jellyfish, and one of the strongest ocean currents in the world, all prove to be life-threatening realities. Timothy Wheeler’s documentary brings Diana Nyad’s extraordinary adventure to life as Diana sets out to prove that will and determination are all you need to make the unimaginable possible.
2014 Open Water Swimming Almanac
An Almanac for Open Water SwimmingAn almanac is essentially a body of knowledge which is so complete that it enables people in different fields to make predictions about the future of their respective industries.
This, for example, was the purpose of the traditional farmers almanacs. It enabled farmers to determine as accurately as possible which crops to plant for the greatest harvests in a given year.
But the farmers almanac was just one example among many.
There are, of course, many different kinds of almanacs.
In fact, there is even one for open water swimming...
