Simone Ercoli Closes Fast To Win Santa Fe-Coronda

After 8 hours and 20 minutes, the top 5 men in the 57 km Maratón Acuática Internacional Santa Fe - Coronda came sprinting down the Rio Negro in the last stage of the race, but it was Simone Ercoli's day.

The Italian who also won last week's marathon in Rosario closed out the river race with an impressive 6-beat kick and a powerful 88 stroke-per-minute sprint. Argentina's Guillermo Bertola went stroke-for-stroke with Ercoli at the end, but Ercoli pulled away by a body by the time he hit the finish pad in 8 hours 22 minutes. Damián Blaum of Argentina finished in third.

An Almanac for Open Water Swimming

An almanac is essentially a body of knowledge which is so complete that it enables people in different fields to make predictions about the future of their respective industries.

This, for example, was the purpose of the traditional farmers almanacs. It enabled farmers to determine as accurately as possible which crops to plant for the greatest harvests in a given year.

But the farmers almanac was just one example among many.
There are, of course, many different kinds of almanacs.
