Jellyfish Can Light Up Your Life

The Medusae Collection is a series of jellyfish-inspired lamps created by Roxy Russell Design.

Roxy Russell designed the Ophelia Pendant Lamp, Medusa Pendant Lamp, Polyp Pendant Lamp, and Hydra Pendant Lamp that range from US$325 to US$425 and are 13 inches in diameter and 36 inches high. They are made by gloss white powder coated aluminum and velum finish polyester mylar.

Roxy Russell, a California-based designer, is clearly inspired by the ocean and motivated by how she can contribute to awareness of the state of the ocean's complex eco-system.

"The lights are an example of how delicate and beautiful our ocean life is. The lamps present an opportunity to look how we might be contributing to the problem of growing amount of plastic in our oceans."

A percentage of the profits generated by the Medusae Collection is donated to The Ocean Conservancy.

The Medusae Collection is indeed a beautiful way to remind ocean swimmers of the denizens of their chosen venues of choice - and can be shipped internationally. To order and for more information, visit here.

2014 Open Water Swimming Almanac

An Almanac for Open Water Swimming

An almanac is essentially a body of knowledge which is so complete that it enables people in different fields to make predictions about the future of their respective industries.

This, for example, was the purpose of the traditional farmers almanacs. It enabled farmers to determine as accurately as possible which crops to plant for the greatest harvests in a given year.

But the farmers almanac was just one example among many.
There are, of course, many different kinds of almanacs.

In fact, there is even one for open water swimming...
