Silvie Rybářová, Jana Pechanová Win Czech Championships

The Czech Open Water Swimming 2012 Championships took place in Lipno, the largest lake in Bohemia. It is the traditional venue of the Czech domestic championships since 1967.

Silvie Rybářová (9th in the 25km at the 2011 World Swimming Championships) stood on top the podium. The defending champion was followed by young Lenka Sterbova who just came back from World Junior Open Water Swimming Championships and Magda Okurkova.

Rybářová ensured her victory in the Czech Cup 2012 series with her victory in the 20km race.

In the 5km time trial, another 3-time Olympian Jana Pechanová (9th in the London marathon swim and 8th in the 2008 marathon swim) had a fast swim and dominated her competition by nearly 3 minutes over silver medalist Rybarova and bronze medalist Barbora Pickova.

An Almanac for Open Water Swimming

An almanac is essentially a body of knowledge which is so complete that it enables people in different fields to make predictions about the future of their respective industries.

This, for example, was the purpose of the traditional farmers almanacs. It enabled farmers to determine as accurately as possible which crops to plant for the greatest harvests in a given year.

But the farmers almanac was just one example among many.
There are, of course, many different kinds of almanacs.
