Christine Jennings Rallies To Victory Over Natalia Charlos In Poland

Christine Jennings took out the 18km BCT Gdynia Marathon in Poland with the top men Petar Stoychev and Trent Grimsey, hanging near them for the first 5km in the jellyfish-strewn coastal course.

But the American still had Polish Olympian Natalia Charlos on her feet. Jennings' coach Eney Jones keep pushing her, the personable Charlos was right there with her at the 10km and 15km checkpoints (1:57:54 vs. 1:57:55 and 3:01:01 vs. 3:01:02 - see split times below for the 5km, 10km and 15km).

But Jennings put good use to her regular 18,000-meter workouts at high-altitude in her native Colorado in the last stages of the last. She finished first in 4:00:40, comfortably ahead of Charlos in 4:02:29 to capture the US$10,000 winner's prize.

On the men's side, Petar Stoychev took control of the race early on and gradually widen his lead to beat second-place Trent Grimsey 3:51:49 to 3:53:27.

An Almanac for Open Water Swimming

An almanac is essentially a body of knowledge which is so complete that it enables people in different fields to make predictions about the future of their respective industries.

This, for example, was the purpose of the traditional farmers almanacs. It enabled farmers to determine as accurately as possible which crops to plant for the greatest harvests in a given year.

But the farmers almanac was just one example among many.
