2013 FINA Open Water Swimming Grand Prix Series

The tentative dates for the 2013 FINA Open Water Swimming Grand Prix Series are shown below.

The FINA Open Water Swimming Grand Prix is a year-round global series of professional marathon swims, ranging from 15 to 88 kilometers in length. Its shorter equivalent is the FINA 10KM Marathon Swimming World Cup that is limited to pro races of 10 km.

* 15km Maratón Acuática Internactional Ciudad de Rosario, Rosario (Argentina) - 27 January
* 57km Maratón Acuática Internacional Santa Fe - Coronda, Santa Fe-Coronda (Argentina) - 2 February
* 88km Maratón Acuática Internacional Santa Fe - Coronda, Hernandarias (Argentina) - 10 February
* 15km Maratón Cancún, Cancún (Mexico) - 20 April
* 36km Maratona del Golfo Capri-Napoli, Napoli (Italy) - to be decided
* 32km Traversée Internationale du lac St-Jean, Roberval (Canada) - 27 July
* 34km Traversée Internationale du lac Memphrémagog, Magog (Canada) - 3 August
* 19km Šabac Swim Marathon, Šabac (Serbia) - 4 August
* 33km Ohrid Lake Swim Marathon, Ohrid Lake (Macedonia) - to be decided

An Almanac for Open Water Swimming

An almanac is essentially a body of knowledge which is so complete that it enables people in different fields to make predictions about the future of their respective industries.

This, for example, was the purpose of the traditional farmers almanacs. It enabled farmers to determine as accurately as possible which crops to plant for the greatest harvests in a given year.

But the farmers almanac was just one example among many.
There are, of course, many different kinds of almanacs.

In fact, there is even one for open water swimming...
