Southern Pacific Masters Open Water Series Champions

The Southern Pacific Masters runs a summer season open water series. The overall male and female high point winners were Bryan Buck and Tanya MacLean.

The series included the Seal Beach Rough Water Swim (1 and 3 miles), Semana Nautica (6 miles), Balboa to Newport Pier-to-Pier (2 miles), Naples Island Swim (1 and miles), Don Burns Corona del Mar Swim (1 mile) and the Slam The Dam at Lake Mead (1.2 and 2.4 miles).

The top finishers in the series included:

An Almanac for Open Water Swimming

An almanac is essentially a body of knowledge which is so complete that it enables people in different fields to make predictions about the future of their respective industries.

This, for example, was the purpose of the traditional farmers almanacs. It enabled farmers to determine as accurately as possible which crops to plant for the greatest harvests in a given year.

But the farmers almanac was just one example among many.
There are, of course, many different kinds of almanacs.

In fact, there is even one for open water swimming...
