No Goggles And A Strong Kick In The Wadden Sea

NETHERLANDS. In this 1958 film clip about a race in Wadden Sea, we could not help but notice the number of well-dressed people on the spectator boats and the fact that none of the swimmers appear to wear goggles, in addition to the winner's streamlined body position augmented by a strong kick.

Richard Broer of the Netherlands comments, "The race is actually not on the Wadden Sea. It is a 2km swim around the harbour head that sticks into the Wadden Sea, a great swim. It is still organized yearly in Harlingen."

  1. I love this. This is a film clip about an open water swimming event over 50 years ago in Europe. It turns out the winner of this event is still swimming...
