Voting Progress For The World Open Water Swimming Man Of The Year

Voting for the World Open Water Swimming Awards continues until December 31st, 2011.

These WOWSA Awards are not necessarily for the best athlete, but are meant to honor the individuals who (1) best embody the spirit of open water swimming, (2) possess the sense of adventure, tenacity and perseverance that open water swimmers are known for, and (3) have most positively influenced the world of open water swimming in 2011.

The voting results after the first 4 weeks is as follows. Voting continues for 2 more weeks:

1. Jamie Patrick (USA) – 699 votes (18.9%)
2. Petar Stoychev (Bulgaria) – 460 votes (12.4%)
3. Salvatore Cimmino (Italy) – 450 votes (12.1%)
4. Stephen Redmond (Ireland) – 402 votes (10.8%)
5. Bruckner Chase (USA) – 387 votes (10.4%)
6. Roger Allsopp (Great Britain) - 306 votes (8.2%)
7. Simon Murie (Great Britain) – 231 votes (6.2%)

An Almanac for Open Water Swimming

An almanac is essentially a body of knowledge which is so complete that it enables people in different fields to make predictions about the future of their respective industries.

This, for example, was the purpose of the traditional farmers almanacs. It enabled farmers to determine as accurately as possible which crops to plant for the greatest harvests in a given year.

But the farmers almanac was just one example among many.
There are, of course, many different kinds of almanacs.

In fact, there is even one for open water swimming...
