WOWSA Man of the Year Nominee Bruckner Chase (USA) – Ocean Advocacy and Awareness Visionary

Bruckner Chase is bringing together the world of ocean environmentalism to the growing community of open water swimmers.

Meeting after meeting, Bruckner is leveraging governmental resources from Washington D.C. to Samoa to conduct a number of ocean-related initiatives together with innovative open water swimming programs.  He is also creating international open water swimming programs for intellectually disabled athletes on behalf of Special Olympics International.

He is developing ocean awareness programs with the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration in order to help protect and restore marine areas encompassing more than 150,000 square miles of oceans

He offers programs from the East Coast of the USA to American Samoa that is drawing raves from government officials, benefactors and non-swimmers.  For enabling others to discover their own place and role in the ocean while also showing others how their lives on land are intimately connected to the seas, Bruckner Chase has increased awareness and excitement about open water swimming and is a worthy for the 2011 World Open Water Swimming Man of the Year.

2014 Open Water Swimming Almanac

An Almanac for Open Water Swimming

An almanac is essentially a body of knowledge which is so complete that it enables people in different fields to make predictions about the future of their respective industries.

This, for example, was the purpose of the traditional farmers almanacs. It enabled farmers to determine as accurately as possible which crops to plant for the greatest harvests in a given year.

But the farmers almanac was just one example among many.
There are, of course, many different kinds of almanacs.

In fact, there is even one for open water swimming...
