A Special Swim With A Royal Finish

The future Princess of Monaco Charlene Wittstock, a former Olympic swimmer for South Africa, handed out the awards to the disabled athletes at the aQuelle Midmar Mile, appropriately so as she is a major patron of the Special Olympics.

The Special Olympics has added a 1.5K open water swim at its 2011 World Summer Games this July. Cornelia Fowler will represent South Africa at the World Summer Games. Additionally, Valentino Vergotine, Mark de Beer, Annemarie Flemming and Siphejihle Mkhize completed the most popular open water swimming mile in the world.
