Open Water Tattoo, Part Two

After seeing the open water tattoo article, Italy's Mauro Giaconia emailed photos of his own open water tattoo that commemorated his 2008 circumnavigation around Manhattan Island. "This is my favorite tattoo, Manhattan Island. I got it the day after I completed the Manhattan Island Marathon Swim, a tribute to more than any other race that has remained in my heart!"

Mauro once swam 101K (62 miles) in 24 hours in the world's largest pool for the opening of San Alfonso del Mar on the west coast of Chile. In an interview with Jose Diaz of Nadandolibre, Mauro said that he lost his sense of taste for two months after swimming in the sea water pool for which he was selected as Palermo's Sportsman of the Year in Palermo.
