Sea Swimming In The Cayman Islands

145 people completed the LIME Sea Swim this weekend under typically perfect weather and gorgeous water conditions.

Sponsored by LIME, two lucky swimmers went home with a new Blackberry as Geoffrey Butler took top honors in a time of 9 minutes and 53 seconds over Matthew Courtis in 10:00 and Seiji Groome in 10:13.

Coral Tomascik was the first female and 6th place overall with a time of 10 minutes and 52 seconds as she finished together with Andrew Smilley in 10:52 and ahead of the second-place female Amber Myrie in 11:29.

Governor Duncan Taylor finished a very respectible 33rd place overall, quite probably the fastest swimming head of state throughout North and South America.

The next event Cayman Island Amateur Swimming Association event is the Butterfield Bank 800-meter sea swim on May 8th.

Jim Fraser is shown on left, a hard-working, dedicated volunteer whose quiet, selfless efforts never go unnoticed by the organizers.
